The Capital Regional District (CRD) is the regional government for the 13 municipalities and three electoral areas that are located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. The CRD provides services, explores issues, and undertakes initiatives that help create a healthy, vibrant, and resilient capital region. The CRD Environmental Sustainability Department takes a comprehensive approach to managing environmental resources, evaluating stressors, developing guidelines and protocols to protect ecosystem services and functions, and educating citizens and businesses. CRD programming includes a variety of topics such as energy and water conservation, waste reduction and diversion, and pollution prevention.
