The City of North Vancouver
Climate change is a global issue that requires local action. The City of North Vancouver is delighted to partner with ELEMENT Society for the delivery of the Destination Conservation program. In 2007, the City was awarded the Greenest City Award for being the most sustainable City in its population category. Some of the funds received were used to offer a community grant program that funds the Destination Conservation program in City schools. Energy use, water consumption and garbage production have a significant impact on the community and requires all of us to work together to identify strategies for a greener future. The City has adopted community-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets of 15% by 2020 and 50% by 2050. This program moves the City further in its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a more liveable community.
